GASME World Leaders Camp in the US

GASME World Leaders Camp, led by Mr. Frank Cao, Secretary-General of GASME, visited the United States from October 6th to 12th, 2017.

108 outstanding young entrepreneurs and students, mainly from Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Guangdong, Taiwan, and even Singapore, joined this camp.

During the one-week trip, our delegation dialogued with George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States and visited the George W. Bush Presidential Library in Dallas. In Washington, the U.S. capital, the delegation visited the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and attended the congressmen’s speech at the United States Capitol.At West Point, the delegation had a taste of elitism and were deeply impressed by the great charm of West Point leadership. Members of the delegation have all commended this trip as unforgettable and rewarding.

On October 10 in Washington, the Associate Administrator of SBA William Manger briefed the delegation on the history, mission of SBA and U.S. government's supporting measures for SMEs. Sun Libo, the Economic Development Officer of SBA, emphasized in his speech that the digital economy had created significant opportunities for the development of SMEs and SMEs trade will gradually dominate global trade. Thus, SMEsshould march for the international market with the help of the government. Secretary-General Cao pointed out in his vote of thanksthat the USeconomy could not become the world's leading power without the contribution of SMEs, especially that of the SBA. Many of the supportive practices of SBA forthe development of SMEs are well worth learning.

After the visit to SBA, the delegation attended the speech of United States congressman Dave Brat, a Ph.D. in economics, at the United States Capitol. He introduced the delegation about America’s liberal economy, and praised the emerging market economies like China for the huge achievements they have made. He also encouraged young people to be actively engaged in innovation and entrepreneurship.

On October 11, in Dallas, the delegation had the honor to meet with the former US president George W. Bush. Secretary-General Cao first expressed his gratitude to Mr. Bush on behalf of all members. He spoke highly of the outstanding achievements made byMr. Bush, especially his push for the friendly development of the relations between China and the United States, and called on entrepreneurs to learn from his courage, insight and wisdom. After that, Mr. Cao Huan, deputy Secretary-General of GASME, conducted in-depth discussions with President Bush on topics such as leadership, business innovation, SME development, economic globalization, Sino-U.S. trade and the economic comparison between China and the United States.When asked whether the trend of economic globalization was beginning to disappear, Mr. Bush pointed out that some people questioned the rationality of economic globalization. However, economic globalization is a reality. The point is how to make economic globalization benefit people. In the United States, trade issue has always been a hot topic. If a trade war broke out between China and the United States, it would be a disaster for both countries.

The dialogue lasted for over one hour in a pleasant atmosphere, before which the delegation also visited the George W. Bush Presidential Center. It has been an extraordinary experience for everyone, who has been deeply impressed by the outstanding contributions of Mr. Bush to the U.S. politics, economy, security, education and medical care during his term.
