GASME Center for World Economic Studies (CWES)

The Global Alliance of SMEs (GASME) is a non-profit multinational NGO approved by the US government, and was founded by the US-China Exchange Association (USCEA) together with more than one hundred prominent trade organizations from the G20 countries in 2009. Christian Wulff, Former President of Germany, serves as the Global Chairman of GASME. Global Advisors include Lee Myung-bak, Former President of the Republic of Korea and Jean-Pierre Raffarin, Former Prime Minister of France. Carlos Magariños, Former UNIDO Director-General, serves as the Chairman Emeritus of GASME. GASME’s Administrative Headquarters is in New Jersey, USA, and its Operational Headquarters is in Shanghai, China. GASME has also set up its European Center in Paris, France; African Center in Johannesburg, South Africa; South American Center in Lima, Peru; and Asian Center in Seoul, South Korea.

Approved by the Leadership Council, GASME has decided to set up GASME Center for World Economic Studies (CWES) for future development.

Mission

Leveraging the extensive resources of GASME, CWES aims to consolidate the best practices from around the world with the innovative thinking of influential industrial leaders, in order to better understand the global economic development trends. CWES’s research and analysis will track the global economic indicators, and propose constructive, practical, strategic policy recommendations using a timely and methodological approach.

The founding of CWES allows GASME to study the latest trends in the world economy and enhance the influence of academia in the business realm, while helping SMEs better understand the dynamics of the global economy, and providing additional stimulus for sustainable development of SMEs worldwide.

Senior Fellow

CWES seeks to build an influential and world renowned economic research institution, consisting of economists, finance professionals, as well as former government leaders. CWES will establish partnerships with UNIDO, World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Inter-American Development Bank, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, HSBC, Nasdaq, Harvard University, Columbia University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Development Research Center of the State Council, China Center for International Economic Exchanges, and other international organizations, financial institutes, and universities.

By onboarding experienced researchers who are experts in their field, CWES will engage in cutting-edge research and propose practical solutions to complex economic issues, building its capabilities toward becoming a large-scale think tank. CWES plans to engage 20 Chinese and foreign economic experts as Senior Fellow of CWES. Their mission is to participate in research and academic exchange projects, and advise on the ongoing business projects.

CWES consists of the Academic Department, International Department, Project Department, and Administrative Department.

Research Field

CWES will take an academic approach to the major issues of world economy, from economic theory to financial, trade, energy, and institutional structures, not only from a global scale, but also at the regional and local level.

Research on economic issues

Research fields include: developing trends of the world economy, international finance, international trade, transnational investment, and industrial development. CWES will provide quality service for governments and enterprises.

Develop economic exchanges

CWES will develop economic exchanges among various think-tanks and institutes to enhance understanding and cooperation by holding forums and seminars that serve as a platform for information and experience sharing for governments and enterprises.

Promote economic cooperation

CWES will develop strategic relationships with governments, enterprises, research institutes and international organizations, in order to better share information across various platforms for governments and enterprises.

Provide consulting services

CWES will formulate regional development planning and industrial development planning for governments and organizations. Associated consulting services will provide an expert view on government policy and laws, growth strategy, operating models, international investment, M&A, technological innovation and market expansion.
